SUMMARY (from Goodreads):

For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without.

Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human… until the cold makes him shift back again.

Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human—or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

REVIEW:

I am probably one of the last people on earth to read this book. It was really hyped a couple of years ago, so I bought it, but it sat on my shelf, waiting, tempting me to read it, but I never got around to it. for a while, I had totally forgotten about it.

Then this book, called THE RAVEN BOYS, came along. I read it and LOVED it! And it just so happened that this author had written another book a few years back, called SHIVER, and I just so happened to have a copy of it sitting RIGHT THERE on my shelf. So I read it. And while I did not think it was the best book ever, I still really enjoyed it.

The werewolf mythology was so cool. It broke away from the standard idea that werewolves only shift during the full moon came around. These werewolves shift with the temperature. So in the summer, when it is warm, they're human, but when it starts to get cold again, they shift back into werewolves for the winter.

This was probably my favorite thing about the book. It was so unique, intriguing, and fun to learn about.

The downfall with this book was the romance. I felt that there was way too much focus on the romance, when other aspects of the story could have been explored more. I myself am not a romance fan, so this made the book a bit boring for me at times.  Don't get me wrong, a little romance is good, but I'd rather it take a backseat to everything else in the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed SHIVER. If you are a fan of werewolves and romance, I highly suggest picking this book up!

CONTENT: Descriptive kissing and making out, and two of the characters have sex, but it is not really described. It's also pretty violent and disturbing at times.
